Sorry to post in English and sorry for it to be so long.

This might be of interest to people traveling

overseas to the US during the summer and would like to limit roaming

charges. It is also good for those of you here that would like to make

and receive US calls directly to your cell phone for free.

This is a pretty stable solution to make and receive calls to the US for free over WiFi

using the XT720 (or other Android based phone).

(Note: You can use Google Voice to make international calls but it will cost you some

money, but probably a lot less than roaming charges^^)

(Another Note: This WILL ALSO work over 3G/HSPDA etc. BUT I would be surprised

if SKT does not have some clause in their usage contract prohibiting voice over their

data networks; also if you do this your just going to use up your data allowance quicker

but in either case the choice is yours...)

Setup:

1) A Google Voice Account number (this is a US telephone number provided by Google Voice)

2) Antisip Account (this is SIP (Session Initation Protocol) server)

3) IPKall Number (this is a US based DID (Direct Inward Dialing) number)

4) SipAgent application

5) Google Voice Dialer version 0.4.0

How it basically works:

1) I forward my Google Voice number to the IPKall DID number which is redirected to the AntiSip server.

2) SipAgent runs on the phone, it is logged into the AntiSip server waiting for incoming or outgoing calls.

How it functions:

Caller from the US:

1) They call my Google Voice Number (I made it a local number for my family so they pay nothing) which is

forward to my IPKall DID number and then handed off to the AntiSip sever which tries to ring my ROK cell phone

through the SipAgent applicaton

a) If the application is running on my phone - the phone rings and the call is connected

b) If the application is not running - the call goes back to Google Voice and the caller can leave a voice mail which

is then goes through a speech to text engine and is sent to me along with an mp3 of the message. Since everything is

integrated through my Google accounts (gmail) all this comes to my phone.

The call quality is pretty good, a little bit of echo, but so far not worse than any Skype calls.

I call to US:

1) Google Voice Dialer is setup to my Google Voice account and set to ring my IPKall DID number by default

(you will see why in a moment). I setup the dialer so that ALL US numbers will be routed through the Google

Voice Dailer (and therefore through WiFi).

2) I dial a US number; Google Voice Dialer connects to Google Voice since this call will be made through my

Google Voice number

3) While the call is being placed my cell phone rings through the SipAgent; this is because my phone needs to

connect to my IPKall DID number (it does so through the AntiSip sever), when I answer this call the call to

the number I wanted is then initiated. And the receiving caller will see my Google Voice number as the

Caller ID.

Both inbound and outbound calls take several seconds to go through, but this is bearable since its all free^^

How to do it:

I struggled to get all this to work using  SipDroid, pbxes, sip2sip, sipsorcery, etc. etc. and various tutorials on

the web. The one at xda (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=548405) is very very confusing

and overly difficult.

Instead, I suggest you try Loganss' Tutorial (http://n1blog.ed-pages.com/?tag=did ) this is a very good start and

should get you up and going. I only had problems with using the Google Voice Callback application he mentions,

I use Google Voice Dialer 0.4.0 instead but GV is suppose to be really good also.

Finally, Google Voice numbers are by invite only (sorry I don't have any invites left), but you can go to

http://www.google.com/voice to request an invite BUT YOU HAVE TO HAVE A US BASED IP ADDRESS

OR ELSE YOU WILL BE DENIED. To get around this you can try using some IP hiding software like Hot Shield

(http://www.hotspotshield.com/ ) or get a US based VPN account US (which is what I do).

UPDATE: I could not get GV 2.5.3 (http://evancharlton.com/projects/gv/ ) to work and it seems like many

others had problems with it earlier this year. So  for the dialer you left with Google Voice Callback

or Google Voice Dialer (this is a paid app).
