플레이북은 RIM이 지난 4월 인수한 QNX 운영체제(OS)에 기반하고 있다. 1GHz ARM 기반 듀얼 코어 프로세서와 7인치 디스플레이가 탑재됐다. 1080p 고화질 동영상을 지원하고 어도비 플래시와도 호환된다.
